I want to break the barriers between viewers and art. I love to see people reach out, turn the handle, and experience the piece coming to life.
I started my artistic journey in Paris as a child. I was inspired by seeing the master's works which seem to emerge from the canvas. I moved to Taos, New Mexico in 1979 after earning my BFA in painting at Washington University in St Louis.
I started my career painting with oils and water colors, focusing on fractured, kinetic images. I then discovered folk art and art brut and built whimsical ship sculptures full of texture and crazy proportions. I realized that by adding actual movement I can invite the viewer to fully participate in the work.
