Dan Beck was born in 1955 in West Palm Beach, Florida and grew up in a military family. He had lived in thirteen states by the time he graduated from high school. Dan enlisted in the Army and spent the next four years in the infantry. His tour included two years in Germany. It was there that Beck was introduced to the timeless beauty of Europe and the roots of Western Art.

The OPA Central Region Award of Excellence - Best Associate Member Painting, $1000, juried by Jeff Legg for his painting "Crystal in Purple" 24x20.
In May, Dan won the Savior-Faire award of Excellence for "Celeste" 18x14 at the 16th National Juried Exhibition of the OPA - juried by Quang Ho.
