The New Mexico landscape seems part of my bones. The strong forms, the soul-expanding space and stark contrasts cast a spell. The clear crackling light of full day to the golden times at dawn and sunset combined with the ever changing cloud patterns lend so many moods and changes to the landscape that it is always new.
I tend to paint “high-key”, using the bright cheerful colors more often than the earth tones. I have been told my work is strong, but with a sense of peace. A love for the curvilinear often is discernible, and the use of broken color is often prevalent in my work. In some paintings I feel drawn to move more to the abstract, although the ties to reality are usually clear.
